Saint Joseph鈥檚 College of Maine has announced that Troy Hendricks will serve as its next Assistant Director and Associate Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field. Hendricks succeeds Tom Dann, who served with the Monks鈥 cross country and track and field programs for twenty-six years. During Dann鈥檚 career in Standish, he guided the women鈥檚 cross country program to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships in 2007 and 2008 and was named as conference coach of the year five times.
A native of Hiram, Maine, Hendricks entered Saint Joseph鈥檚 College after a stellar academic and running career at Sacopee Valley High School. He graduated from Saint Joseph鈥檚 College in 2022 with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in communication and earned an impressive 3.94 grade point average in the process. Hendricks competed in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field for four years as a Monk and was a team captain in all three sports. He also worked in the sports information as an intern and served as president of the campus Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In 2024 Hendricks earned an MBA in leadership from Saint Joseph鈥檚.
In his career competing for the Royal Blue, Hendricks placed as the Monks' top finisher in 31 of 33 cross country events in which he competed. He was named as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Cross Country All-Conference team each year and won the 2023 individual GNAC harrier title on his home course. For his efforts, he was named GNAC Runner of the Year. The 2022 GNAC Man of the Year, Hendricks was also selected by the 色虎视频 athletic department as his class鈥檚 Male Athlete of the Year and was the recipient of the Neile Nelson Award for his high level of commitment to his team while performing a leadership role within the 色虎视频 campus community.
In August of 2023, Hendricks was appointed as an assistant coach for cross country and track and field at this alma mater. For the past year,聽 he has also served as the manager of the campus Career Studio and has assisted in various sports information projects.
