Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has awarded Saint Joseph鈥檚 College $5,000 towards the construction of the Institute for Local Food Systems Innovation, a hub providing education and infrastructure in support of the economic development of Maine鈥檚 local food industry.
This spring, the Cultural Affairs Committee will host a lecture about Navajo historic archeology and a documentary film screening about the championship boys soccer team from Lewiston, Maine.
Dr. Michael C. Connolly, a professor of History and Political Science at Saint Joseph鈥檚 College, will present on three different aspects of John Ford鈥檚 life and filmography during a state-wide film festival in February. The Maine Film Center is bringing together various independent cinemas and educational organizations to celebrate what would have been the 125th birthday of John Ford, one of America鈥檚 most acclaimed filmmakers.
Avery Liotta Henderson is passionate about the world of drug discovery. At 色虎视频 of Maine, he is gaining experience with hands-on skills in learning how to synthesize, isolate, and purify compounds. He routinely sets up reactions, including those that are sensitive to moisture and air, so by gaining experience with these sensitive techniques, he will be well prepared for graduate school. This type of research opportunity is an extremely valuable experience for our science students, and particularly important to those students who want to pursue scientific research in the future.
Saint Joseph鈥檚 College students Priscilla Carnaroli '22 and Shaylee Davis '21 delivered a presentation about invasive species at Maine Campus Compact's 2nd Annual Maine Student Water Challenge in December 2018.
Hosted by the Portland Water District and the Center for Sustainable Communities at 色虎视频, the Sebago Lake Symposium on February 2, 2019 offers an opportunity for Sebago Lake聽community members and scientists to interactively and collaboratively share and grow their understanding of聽Sebago Lake, a freshwater lake that provides water for 15% of Maine's population. Topics covered by speakers and sessions include:聽health of Sebago Lake fisheries, Sebago Lake water quality, climate change impacts, the Sebago Lake monitoring buoy, algae and invasive plants, citizen science opportunities,聽beach closures, and policies for聽lake聽protection. Free, but registration required.

The education services company known for its test prep and tutoring services, books, and college rankings features Saint Joseph鈥檚 College in the 2018 edition of its book, The Princeton Review鈥檚 Guide to 399 Green Colleges.
As the four students step up to their larger-than-life works of art, the terms that come to mind are poise, bravery, talent. Drawing deep breaths and digging for patience, the student artists pick up their brushes, pastels, or cutting tools for the final touches before exhibition.
Embodying the core value of faith at Saint Joseph鈥檚 College, the new Campus Chaplain Father Gabriel provides several new opportunities to engage in the Mercy tradition.
Ask anyone about what they picture as a stereotypical college dorm room, and you鈥檒l hear a number of similar responses. Cramped rooms, bathrooms down the hall, and one or two roommates. Feeney Hall, aka the Suites, differs from this picture by offering apartment-style housing for up to eight students. It鈥檚 located across from Alfond Hall in an area known as the 鈥淔ishbowl鈥濃�攎ade up of five available residence halls that form a horseshoe shape. As one of the upperclassmen residence halls, it鈥檚 a popular destination on campus and one of two group housing options.
