Saint Joseph鈥檚 College has been recognized for its environmental responsibility by The Princeton Review. The education services company known for its test prep and tutoring services, books, and college rankings features Saint Joseph鈥檚 College in the 2018 edition of its book, The Princeton Review鈥檚 Guide to 399 Green Colleges.
As the four students step up to their larger-than-life works of art, the terms that come to mind are poise, bravery, talent. Drawing deep breaths and digging for patience, the student artists pick up their brushes, pastels, or cutting tools for the final touches before exhibition.
Embodying the core value of faith at Saint Joseph鈥檚 College, the new Campus Chaplain Father Gabriel provides several new opportunities to engage in the Mercy tradition.
Ask anyone about what they picture as a stereotypical college dorm room, and you鈥檒l hear a number of similar responses. Cramped rooms, bathrooms down the hall, and one or two roommates. Feeney Hall, aka the Suites, differs from this picture by offering apartment-style housing for up to eight students. It鈥檚 located across from Alfond Hall in an area known as the 鈥淔ishbowl鈥濃�攎ade up of five available residence halls that form a horseshoe shape. As one of the upperclassmen residence halls, it鈥檚 a popular destination on campus and one of two group housing options.
Supportive environments create lifelong connection bonded by common experiences. Through creating these cohorts we are empowering students by challenging them and supporting them, giving them a place to 鈥渟tart from鈥� as they graduate and become members of the larger human community.
The Saint Joseph鈥檚 College of Maine nursing program has achieved the highest pass rate of licensing exams for students in a BSN nursing program in the State of Maine. For calendar year 2018, 色虎视频 nursing graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate of NCLEX, the National Council Licensure Examination. This 色虎视频 pass rate surpassed the national average of 89.41 percent and the Maine state average of 89 percent.
The Center for Faith and Spirituality and the Center for Sustainable Communities were pleased to welcome The Burnurwurbskek Singers 鈥� the Keepers of the Penobscot Drum 鈥� to campus in October to share their traditional music and experiences of life on reservations today with students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the public. Several Sisters of Mercy attended the event, which led to much fond reminiscing about shared family history and the Sisters' time spent serving in several Wabanaki communities across the state.
MABLab!, the new student entrepreneurism and innovation hub at 色虎视频, is currently accepting applications and planning projects for entrepreneurial students interested in Spring 2019 internships and apprenticeships. On Friday, September 28th, members of the College community gathered in the Viola George Auditorium in Alfond Hall on Saint Joseph鈥檚 Standish campus for the annual induction ceremony of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society.
Former US Assistant Secretary of State Philip J. Crowley visited聽the 色虎视频 campus and spoke on 鈥淭he Challenge of Political Leadership and Legitimacy in a Time of Extreme Partisanship, Fake News, and International Conflict.鈥�
